Principal Designer, Associate ASID
John McClain is an accomplished interior designer who has turned his lifetime passion for interior design into an opportunity to do the same for others. John McClain Design's projects have received numerous awards, published in countless magazines, and John's advice can be seen regularly in design publications online and in print. As a young man, John’s interest in creating beautiful spaces was sparked by his family’s talent in fine home building. Soon, John began remodeling and redesigning home after home and combined a trade taught by his family with his natural aesthetic ability. John designed his first professional interior design project in 2008 while simultaneously beginning his formal education in Interior Design. John also holds a BS degree in Business Administration. Shortly after his career launch, John appeared on HGTV's First Time Design. Through HGTV, his personality and design perspective were visible to a larger audience, and he was soon designing homes across the country. Next, John joined a prestigious interior design firm/furniture design company in Los Angeles, CA. Here, John gained an appreciation for the sophisticated west coast design style while collaborating on designs for many LA homes-including several celebrity clients. Here, John also fueled his passion for custom furniture design learning the ins and outs of quality craftsmanship and unique designs. John McClain Design is a well crafted blend of John's past design experience, education, and innovative-forward thinking. John’s design style is an eclectic mix of traditional elements fused with clean lines and touches of glamour. John McClain Design has offices in Florida and Los Angeles.
in 2016, the team at John McClain Design launched a home furnishings line, Gilded Home, which embodies the discerning style and quality craftsmanship that John has woven into all of his interior design projects. John has personally designed each item in the Gilded Home collection which includes bespoke upholstery, casegoods, lighting, and accessories. Aesthetically, Gilded Home marries the luxe sophistication of Hollywood Regency & Art Deco with the simplicity of mid-century modern design elements-all fused with uniquely fresh and current elegance.
A successful design project involves combining the client’s needs and wishes with John's natural instinct. Moreover, his belief that all environments can be both beautiful and attainable allows anyone to find their perfect surroundings. John now also shares his passion for interior design through speaking engagements, articles, and events.
After having grown up and worked with an interior designer father, Delene took a long detour, attending Columbia University for a B.S. in Physics and also working in Human Resources/Compensation for nearly 30 years. Finally returning to an interest closer to her heart, Delene attended Seminole State College of Florida to obtain an A.S. in Interior Design, along with a certificate in Kitchen and Bath Design. She now employs this knowledge as Interior Designer at John McClain Design. Delene is also proficient in AutoCAD, Google Sketchup, and phenomenal hand rendering skills.
